Miami, FL - The application cycle for 2025 Artists in Residence in Everglades (AIRIE) residencies will open on January 6, 2025. The application will close after the first 500 applications are received, or latest on February 3, 2025 at 11:59pm.
Online Info Session - December 12, 2024, 5 - 6 pm
AIRIE believes artists are uniquely positioned to engage communities for a more inclusive and just future. Over the course of the residency season, AIRIE is investigating what it means to create affirming space in the outdoors, and how creativity can be a catalyst for social and environmental change.
AIRIE applications are reviewed by prominent regional leaders and experts in our National Advisory Panel. Panelists review applications in search of the highest quality proposals that can best make use of this unique experience to live, work and learn from the Everglades, taking into consideration the linkage between art, environment and culture, as it is embedded and reflected in their work and proposal. Following this competitive process, a specter group of artists or artist groups across disciplines are invited to be Artists in Residence in Everglades for the 2025/2026 season.
AIRIE welcomes proposals from visual artists, writers, scholars, composers, designers, musicians, choreographers and other creatives. During their residencies, AIRIE Fellows engage with park rangers, scientists, environmental advocates, community and cultural leaders to enhance their understanding and experience in this fragile ecosystem that covers the southern tip of the state of Florida.
Residents are provided a $5,500 residency stipend from AIRIE, an air-conditioned studio cabin on park property near the Homestead, FL entrance to the park and 24/7 park access.
For additional information, visit www.airie.org or email heather@airie.org. All potential applicants are invited to attend the online information session and free public events that will elaborate upon the resident experience, and offer opportunities to attend and engage with AIRIE staff and former residents.
